It is approximately 40 kms from Delhi and around 15 kms from Gurugram by road. Establishing the sanctuary in 1972 was an accomplishment. And spans an area of about 1.43 square kms. Its diverse bird species, including migratory birds and other waterfowl, are renowned. The total walking area within the sanctuary is approximately 4 kms, providing visitors with a scenic and bird-watching experience

Started on an enchanting journey right from the comfort of my home, commencing at 10:30 after indulging in a delightful breakfast, complete with a pack of refreshing fruits for a nourishing lunch on the go. Our destination is the captivating Sultanpur National Park, a mere 45-minute drive away, where nature beckons with open arms.

Upon arrival, we found parking facilities that were decent but could certainly use a bit of enhancement. Nevertheless, armed with our entrance tickets, we eagerly stepped into the realm of Sultanpur National Park. For me, exploring the depths of the jungle on foot became the ultimate way to connect with the surroundings, ensuring that every step taken was an opportunity to appreciate and capture the wonders of the natural world. So, lace up your walking shoes and get ready to immerse yourself in the symphony of nature that awaits at Sultanpur National Park

NILGAI

Embarking on our wildlife journey, the first enchanting sight unfolds is a Nilgai, the graceful white-footed antelope, basking in the winter sunshine near the water. A solitary moment quickly transforms into a lively spectacle as a vibrant herd of Nilgai eagerly gathers for a brisk wetland crossing.

Great Black Cormorant

As we set our eyes upon the wetland that was teeming with other species and our gaze is immediately drawn to the first waterfowl. The Black Cormorant, striking a pose of attack or anger.

Painted Stork

As I venture further into the wilderness, I find myself immersed in a serene atmosphere. Only interrupted by the vibrant chorus of chirping creatures, which captivates my attention.

Enter the captivating breeding season of Painted Storks, where the young storks vocalize with exuberance. However, with the passage of time transforms them into practically voiceless creatures by the age of 18 months. Astonishingly, these majestic birds can thrive for up to 28 years.

Delving into the intricacies of their breeding habits some important facts we got. Painted Storks create their nests on trees. And forming mixed colonies with various water birds. This glimpse offers a fascinating look at the intricate social dynamics of these amazing creatures. Enriching our wildlife journey with layers of complexity

Purple Swamphen

With plethora of avian wonders, one creature that particularly caught my eye is the Purple Swamphen. Its intricate, iridescent feathers catch the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing dance of colors that captivates onlookers.

Northern Shoveler or Common Teal

Distinguished by its unique spatula-shaped bill, the Northern Shoveler is a remarkable waterfowl species. Gliding effortlessly across wetlands with vibrant plumage and a distinct feeding technique captivates observers. Diving and enjoying water becomes a spectacle to relish through observation

Rose-Ringed Parakeet

As our enchanting journey through the nature trail approaches its conclusion. The sudden melodic chirp of a parrot’s voice captivates our attention. This leads us to the delightful sighting of a vibrant Rose-Ringed Parakeet. Even as the sun shines brightly, a mere shift in viewpoint can lead you to capture the ideal photograph. Highlighting the myriad shades of green adorning the trees. Amidst this picturesque scene, a charming couple of parakeets bask in the warmth of the sunshine. And creating a moment of pure natural bliss.

Golden Jackal

In one corner of Sultanpur National Park, a landscape unfolds with arid bushes. And a subtle rustle captures our immediate focus towards that. Brimming with anticipation, I swiftly prepare my gear, eager to seize the impending spectacle. Look we saw two magnificent Golden Jackals emerge, gracing us with their majestic presence.

We spent a wonderful five hours in the lap of nature. Which refreshed us and allowed us to complete our mission. In this natural haven, every scene becomes nature’s canvas, and you take pride in appreciating the beauty.

In the bustling cities nearby, setting out to find a bird paradise shows a bold step towards protecting the environment.
