Corbett Tiger Reserve is located in Uttarakhand, Northern India, known for its beautiful scenery. It offers untamed adventure. Imagine strolling through the heart of the jungle where tigers roam like VIPs and elephants parade like they’re on a catwalk. Because Jungle’s drama is more captivating than a Netflix series.
Our Journey to Corbett Tiger Reserve
Nature always amazes us. And with this belief in mind, we started our journey to Corbett Tiger Reserve. We covered a 292 km distance in five hours from our home in Delhi. Which includes a pleasant breakfast stop on the way.
Weekend Getaway in Nature
As the September weekend nears you can feel the cool air and enjoy the long weekend. The idea of going on a two-day nature trip starts to tempt you. While presented with a multitude of choices Corbett Tiger Reserve emerges as a compelling option. Corbett Tiger Reserve usually welcomes tourists from mid-November to mid-June and provides a delightful wildlife experience. But during the monsoon season from July to September, the park closes temporarily. Because it’s the breeding season for many animals. But its two gates Jhirna are open throughout the year, making it accessible for visitors at any time. Dhela Gate is also open in September.
Safari Booking In Advance
When you go to any Tiger Reserve or national park, it’s better to book your safari in advance. Online booking can be done through Corbett’s official website.
Stories from Jungle Day 1
Our first safari scheduled for the afternoon at three o’clock, at Jhirna Gate of Corbett Tiger Reserve. And in compliance with the park’s regulations, we had to be at the gate by 2:30. Given the customary lines and identity verifications, punctuality was essential to avoid any unforeseen delays. Our naturalist started giving us details of the diverse range of animals and of flora and fauna of this gate.
First Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 1
Our first wildlife encounter occurred within a few meters from the gate. A serene scene of an elephant mother sheltering her child. The little one nestled beside her. Being fed with leaves from the surrounding bushes. The morning rain had lavishly bathed the environment. Making it a lush, vibrant green, casting a breathtaking spell over the entire landscape.
Second Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 1
While crossing a meandering river, a sudden flurry of wings captured our collective attention. To our awe, we beheld a majestic eagle perched on a branch. And with nimble precision, it swiftly moved to another vantage point. Equipped with a capable camera, I managed to seize a few remarkable shots. We lingered, hoping for any signs such as calls or pug marks, indicative of the elusive presence of a tiger. However, the rain had washed away such clues.
With the clock ticking, and the evening safari nearing its conclusion, we navigated through various corners of the jungle. Covering the relatively compact area allocated to this gate of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
Third Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 1
Our persistence paid off, as we encountered a variety of avian wonders. Which includes the Asian Green Bee Eater, the Indian Roller, and some more. The sightings of graceful spotted deer with golden hour light falling on trees and deer draw our attention.
Fourth story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 1
A particular spectacle was observing a baby monkey sipping water from a puddle formed by the morning’s rain. Which was a testament to their remarkable alertness and adaptability.
As the golden hour approached, our first safari concluded on a euphoric note. Leaving us eagerly anticipating the prospects of a more enriching wildlife experience the following morning.
Stories from Jungle Day 2
Our second morning safari was at Dhela Gate of the Corbett Tiger Reserve . We reached at gate 6 in morning within 15 minutes. Much like the previous day, the lingering effects of the night’s rain were visible. The Dhela Gate of Corbett Tiger Reserve is relatively smaller in comparison to the Jhirna Gate . Our naturalist informed us about yesterday sightings of a tigress along with her kids in this area. Which ignites our sense of anticipation at Dhela Gate of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
First Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 2
The expedition unfolded with us by crossing the same paths repetitively during the three-hour morning safari. Dhela’s beautiful landscape surprised us. Its home to various bird species, filling the air with their melodious songs as we drove through the rough terrain. These birds were namely Scaly Breasted Munia, and Common Redstart. Other avian delights we spotted included the Chestnut-headed Bee-Eater, Brown Rock chat, and the Pied Bush chat.
Second Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 2
As we journeyed deeper into the Dhela region we spotted Crested Serpent Eagle. Who made its presence and gave looks that seemed to inquire, “Who dares intrude upon my place? Bird Brahminy Starling couple draws our attention through voice.
Third Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 2
While exploring the jungle, we came across two trees adorned with weaver bird nests. To our amazement, one of these trees had fewer nests. While the other situated at a distance, was teeming with more nests. Our guide explained how they reflect the importance of the female weaver bird in the decision-making process.
In this avian world, the female weaver bird plays a pivotal role. She meticulously inspects the design and location of each nest. This intricate selection process in the avian world is similar of human.
Fourth Story from Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 2
Our wildlife observations continued as we spotted three jackals in the vicinity. Enjoying a meal and sharing in the company of their playful monkey companions. Their stern glances as our gypsy crossed their path were a curious blend of curiosity and irritation.
Fifth Story form Corbett Tiger Reserve Day 2
Just as our trip was about to conclude, a Mongoose gracefully performed a beautiful runway walk. Giving a pose that seemed to capture the very essence of the wild.
Conclusion
Corbett Tiger Reserve offers a remarkable blend of natural beauty, wildlife, and adventure. It’s a place where nature’s wonders unfold at every turn, and where the spirit of conservation thrives. Whether you’re an avid wildlife enthusiast or photographer or nature lover, or simply seeking a rejuvenating escape.
